Rasselstein and IZW participate at the Interpack

"Discover the world of tinplate" – is the theme under which Rasselstein GmbH, Germany’s only tinplate manufacturer, and the Informations-Zentrum Weißblech (IZW) present exciting ideas from all world at the Interpack in Duesseldorf (Hall 10/Stand number E 17).
Whether it’s a 3-piece, shaped Caipirinha beverage can from Brazil, a reclosable, laminated coffee beverage can from Japan, a paint can with a viewing window from Austria, or bowls for English ready meals - no other packaging material globally is as versatile as tinplate. The metal is used to package mass products for a few cents up to luxury products for hundreds of Euros. Due to its outstanding printability and good shaping possibilities tinplate cans are world-wide eye catchers at the point of sale. At their Interpack stand, the IZW and Rasselstein will show the variety of tinplate packaging with products from around the world.
Special themes
Rasselstein will also introduce some special themes at the fairs. For example, the latest laminated tinplate technology will be shown. Tinplate and ECCS coated with PET and PP is especially suitable for valve supports, aerosol can bottoms and lugs as well as vacuum closures for glass jars. Rasselstein will discuss these uses with their customers at the Interpack and Metpack.
CosmoCan® is the name of a current project at Rasselstein GmbH. The project is a cooperative effort between Rasselstein, can developer Crebocan, the Lindal Group, a manufacturer of valves, actuators and spray caps for aerosol products, and the brand owner Unilever. The can captivates attention due to its unique shape, high-value look and surface feel. It is a laminated, laser welded and expanded can. Here, laser welding is used in large scale production for the first time. The seamless laser welding of the bottom, top and body optically opens up a new generation of cans. As a result of this innovative concept CosmoCan® has won the German Packaging Award 2005 (production concept) from the Deutsche Verpackungsinstitut (German Packaging Institute) and will attend the World Star Award 2005.
The Innovation Centre
The Innovation Centre (IZ) of the Rasselstein GmbH will introduce its current projects and service spectrum at the Interpack and Metpack. Through multidisciplinary collaboration of technology and marketing, creative new tinplate packaging is developed jointly with the customer. IZ employees accompany the projects from idea to first prototypes and test runs, up through the market introduction. In order to do this, special machinery as well as hardware and software are available for the prototype and sample construction.
Presentations and event schedule
Supplementing the themes will be brief, daily presentations covering laminated tinplate, shaping and embossing, the food can as a vitamin “safe”, and new product concepts in tinplate. Rasselstein board member Klaus Neuhaus-Wever will also give an overview of developments and perspectives in the tinplate market.
Apart from all the theory, there will also be room for a tasty experience at the Interpack. Creative chefs Ernst Häusler and Sebastian Friedrich will prepare wok dishes using canned foods. On two of the days the artistic group “Tubeart” will perform using cans and the “Artistical Cocktails” will prepare mixed drinks with amazing and exciting style.
